About Sarah

Yes, my real name is Dessert, and it suits me well because I do have a sweet tooth!
Born and raised in France, I decided to start a new life in Canada because I love this beautiful and wide country.

I love teaching French probably as much as I love to speak English! I got my French teaching degree in France and have been a French instructor for more than 14 years now, both in France and Canada.
I’ve started this French journey with thousands of students and I especially enjoy doing the first steps with beginners.

With my experience here, I’ve become a specialist of teaching French to English speakers. Teaching adults in Alberta for years has allowed me to know my audience really well: understand their needs, their challenges, as well as their strenghts. Being fluent in English myself, I can communicate and create a bond with my clients to support them even better on their learning journey.

More about myself: I love music in many ways, I enjoy vegan food, I think Nature is absolutely magnificient and extraordinary, being an auntie has added a new and special flavour to my life, and I believe kindness is the answer to make this world a better place!

About the lesson

Bonjour !
The human interaction is what I love the most about being a French instructor: help people get where they want to be, guide and support them on this path, show them that they can do it by rebuilding or improving self-confidence in and outside of the class.

Whether you want to learn French to travel to Paris, because your family is francophone, to support your kids in French immersion, or just for your own pleasure, I’m devoted to help you thrive and reach your goals!
I bring my energy and my expertise to co-create this French journey with you.

Learning a language is not only about grammar, it’s a human experience; that’s why your French journey doesn’t stop at the end of the class!

I offer an immersion experience because I’ve seen the best results with this approach.
I do my best to establish a safe, caring and fun atmosphere so that everybody feels comfortable to be just who they are and not afraid to make mistakes, because you know what? Making mistakes is part of the process and there is absolutely no shame in that! We have a saying in French: « C’est en se trompant, qu’on apprend! », which means that it’s when you make mistakes that you actually learn!

Perfect! Sarah has been helping my daughter in Grade 2 French Immersion improve her grasp of the language and increase her confidence in French Language Arts as well as Math. Sarah has been wonderful to work with! She has tailored her teaching specifically to my daughter and her learning style. My daughter loves going to see Mme Dessert and often says working with Sarah is way more fun than going to school. I highly recommend her for tutoring young children in French!

What’s included in the price:
1. Personalized learning profile assessment: to build a structure that truly fits you
2. Program design: a fully customized program based on your goals, needs, and learning style
3. French lessons: private sessions online or in person
4. Material provided: all the documents we work on, audio files or apps (except for books used in group classes)
5. Follow-ups: weekly email with a recap of what we did together, class notes and personalized practice suggestions
6. French immersion: structured immersion from the very first class with guided support every step of the way + I always open the class with French music!

So basically, you just need to relax, show up on time and get on board with me on your French journey!

Conditions:
Full payment is required at least 2 weeks prior to the start date. Purchased hours are valid for 12 months from the date of payment. All payments are non-refundable once processed. Lessons cancelled less than 24 hours in advance, or missed without notice, will be charged in full.
