About Nathan

Hi, I'm Nathan, a native English speaker from the United States with a background that combines international teaching, business, psychology, and more than 20 years of professional experience.

I began my international career in St. Petersburg, Russia, where I spent five years teaching English to adults and business professionals. I taught at Saint Petersburg State University and Liden & Denz before joining EducaCentre, where my work included corporate contracts teaching Business English to working professionals.

Those five years gave me something I've valued throughout my career: an appreciation for how challenging it can be to communicate confidently in another language and culture.

After leaving teaching, I earned an MBA in International Business from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland. I also hold both a master's and bachelor's degree in Psychology.

I then built a career across technology, healthcare, sales, marketing, customer success, and international business. I've worked with executives and multinational organizations, delivered presentations and training, led strategic business discussions, and worked with colleagues and clients from many different cultural backgrounds.

I've also lived and worked in Russia, Switzerland, Portugal, and the United States.

I'm returning to Business English teaching with considerably more business experience than I had when I first taught it. I can now combine five years of classroom experience with firsthand knowledge of how professionals actually communicate in meetings, presentations, negotiations, interviews, sales conversations, and international business relationships.

Most importantly, I enjoy working with people. My goal is to create an environment where you can speak openly, make mistakes, ask questions, challenge yourself, and become more confident every week.

About the lesson

I believe the best way to learn Business English is to use it in the situations where you actually need it.

My lessons are practical, conversational, and built around your professional life. Rather than spending an hour working through generic textbook exercises, we might practice an upcoming presentation, role-play a difficult meeting, prepare for an interview, work through a negotiation, improve a sales pitch, or discuss a real challenge you're facing at work.

A typical lesson starts with conversation. I want to hear you speak naturally so I can understand where you're already strong and where you're having difficulty. From there, we'll work on vocabulary, phrasing, pronunciation, grammar, confidence, and the nuances of how Americans actually communicate in professional settings. I provide direct feedback, but I don't want to interrupt you every 30 seconds. The goal is to help you become a more confident communicator, not make you afraid of making mistakes.

What sets me apart is that I've experienced Business English from both sides of the classroom.

I spent five years teaching English to adults and business professionals in St. Petersburg, Russia, including at Saint Petersburg State University, Liden & Denz, and through corporate Business English contracts at EducaCentre. I later earned an MBA in International Business from the University of St. Gallen in Switzerland and spent more than 15 years working in international business, technology, healthcare, sales, marketing, and customer success.

I've taught Business English, but I've also spent years actually doing business in English: presenting to executives, leading strategic meetings, working with international teams, selling, negotiating, training clients, and communicating across cultures.

My lessons are best suited for intermediate and advanced English speakers who want to become more effective professionally. I especially enjoy working with executives, managers, entrepreneurs, sales professionals, technology and healthcare professionals, MBA students, and anyone who regularly works with American colleagues, clients, or companies.

You don't need perfect English to do business successfully. You need to communicate your ideas clearly, confidently, and naturally.
