About Laura

I bring more than 25 years of nursing experience to every tutoring session, including 20 years in emergency nursing and 14 years in school nursing. As a nationally certified Registered Nurse, I have dedicated my career not only to providing high-quality patient care but also to mentoring students, new nurses, and healthcare professionals.

My extensive clinical background allows me to connect nursing theory to real-world practice, helping students understand how concepts apply in actual patient care situations. I understand the challenges nursing students face because I have worked alongside learners throughout my career, supporting them as they develop their clinical skills, critical thinking, and professional confidence.

Professionalism, reliability, and respect are the foundation of my tutoring practice. I create a supportive, judgment-free learning environment where students feel comfortable asking questions, addressing knowledge gaps, and building confidence. About the lesson

My tutoring philosophy is centered on building understanding, confidence, and clinical judgment. Nursing is more than memorizing facts—it requires the ability to analyze information, prioritize care, and apply knowledge in real-world situations. My goal is to help students develop the critical-thinking skills necessary to succeed academically, perform confidently in clinical settings, and excel on nursing examinations.

I use a personalized, student-centered approach, adapting each session to the learner's individual needs, learning style, and goals. I simplify complex concepts into manageable components, utilize real-life clinical examples from my 25+ years of nursing experience, and incorporate evidence-based learning strategies to improve retention and comprehension. I also teach test-taking techniques that help students confidently navigate NCLEX-style and nursing school exam questions.

A typical lesson begins with an assessment of the student's strengths, challenges, and learning objectives. We review course material, clarify difficult concepts, work through practice questions, and discuss the rationale behind correct and incorrect answers. I emphasize clinical reasoning and prioritization throughout each session, helping students understand not only what the correct answer is, but why it is correct. Sessions conclude with a summary of key takeaways and a plan for continued study and improvement.

What sets me apart is the depth and diversity of my nursing experience. As a nationally certified Registered Nurse with more than 25 years of clinical practice—including 20 years in emergency nursing and 14 years in school nursing—I bring practical, real-world insight to every lesson. I bridge the gap between textbook knowledge and clinical application, helping students develop the competence and confidence required for success in both academic and healthcare environments.
