About Vania

Hi, I’m Vania! I’m a native Spanish speaker from Mexico, fluent in English, and I recently completed a master’s degree in Women, Violence and Conflict at the University of York, and my BA in Political Science in Mexico. Having studied and lived abroad, I understand how rewarding—and sometimes intimidating—it can be to communicate in another language.

I want to teach because I enjoy helping people express themselves and connect with others. For me, learning Spanish opens the door to new friendships, cultures and experiences. I’m especially excited to share the expressions, humour and everyday language that bring Latino culture to life.

I bring patience, creativity and curiosity to my lessons. I want to get to know your interests and goals, so we can make learning meaningful to you. Above all, I want you to feel comfortable being yourself, asking questions and making mistakes as your confidence grows.

About the lesson

My goal is to help you speak Spanish with confidence and enjoy the process. I use innovative, varied teaching methods that reflect how people communicate today, bringing the language to life through film clips, songs, popular culture and even memes.

Speaking is at the heart of my lessons. We practise everyday expressions and useful phrases through conversations, role-play and topics that interest you, helping you use what you learn in real situations. Alongside this, I provide clear explanations and focused practice to strengthen the areas you need most: grammar, writing, reading, listening or pronunciation.

I create a friendly, supportive environment where you can ask questions, make mistakes and try again without feeling judged. Lessons are personalised around your goals, whether you are learning for travel, work, study or connecting with Spanish-speaking people.

I am a native Spanish speaker from Mexico with advanced English and a master’s degree from the University of York. My background includes delivering training and communicating complex ideas clearly to people with different levels of knowledge.

I offer flexible lessons, with 60 minutes as a suggested format, for beginners through to advanced learners. Each session combines conversation, engaging materials and targeted feedback, so you leave knowing what you have improved and what to practise next.
