About Rae

I have never not taken my teaching seriously. When I started as a lifeguard/ swim teacher I already understood I was teaching a potentially life saving skill and I acted like it.

In my current role, I understand that there are things bigger in life than academics. I am very aware of my body language, tone, and word choice when I am working with someone. I want people to learn and enjoy it. I wouldn’t risk that by behaving in a way that made someone uneasy or uncomfortable.

About the lesson

I am a huge believer in displaying material in a personalized way. I like to know a clients personal interests so I can tailor a clients academic needs based on things they already like.

I am adamant about historical accuracy. Some versions of history have certainly felt the effects of white washing, and my aim is to teach the whole story.

I work in a psychiatric hospital for children as a TA. I taught swimming lessons for 7 years to people of all ages and physical/mental abilities. I am comfortable with a variety of personal abilities and believe in making space and being realistic about those abilities.
