About Laura

Hello, I am a piano, classical guitar and flute teacher. I also tutor composition, GCSE/A level music and music theory. I teach all levels of playing - beginner to advanced. As well as tutoring, I freelance as a composer, producing pieces for performance in concert and working on collaborative creative projects. Qualifications: BA Music, The University of York (First) 13 GCSE/A level qualifications, all A/A*, including A* Music A Level DipABRSM Piano ABRSM Grade 8 Flute ABRSM Grade 8 Classical Guitar

About the lesson

Teaching is my passion and I work in a methodical, creative and encouraging way to get the best out of my pupils. I focus on all aspects of playing; performance skills, technique, building repertoire, playing by ear, and reading and understanding music. My love is helping others to find a passion within music and finding an outlet for expression. I have a diverse and thorough education in music which allows me to bring creative approaches and different interpretations on music to the lessons. I have completed a university module specifically on instrumental music education looking at topics such as tutoring styles and inclusivity. I work at the pace of the pupil and I am a calm person with a great deal of patience. I have a particular passion for working with children and teenagers and I have an enhanced DBS check.
