About Slimane
Who Am I?
Musician for over 20 years, I began my journey at the conservatory studying violin and percussion before turning to orchestral and choral conducting. After studying musicology La Sorbonne, I continued my training in Ireland at the Royal Irish Academy of Music (Dublin) and the Cork School of Music. Today, I spend my time between conducting and teaching music theory in a conservatory.

Musical Analysis – Let’s break down works together to understand and interpret them better.
Music History – Discover music through its context, composers, and stylistic evolution.

Music Theory, Ear Training, and Choral Singing with an Orchestra Conductor and Conservatory Professor – A Comprehensive Training for All Levels
My Teaching Approach
Passionate about musical education, I tailor my teaching to the needs and goals of each student, whether they are beginners, passionate amateurs, or aspiring professionals.
My approach combines rigor with the joy of learning in a lighthearted manner, emphasizing deep and exhaustive understanding, and most importantly, practical application!
Techniques and Teaching Methods
My method is based on a pragmatic and rigorous approach, rooted in real repertoire. The goal is to understand both the substance and the form of each concept, to know what we are doing, why we are doing it, and how to apply it effectively. Far from mechanical learning, my teaching focuses on deep comprehension to develop a free and expressive musical practice.
Ear Training in a Real Musical Context : Singing exercises, melodic and harmonic dictations based on repertoire pieces, to develop the ability to hear and feel music naturally.
Systematic and Efficient Note Reading : Training in all clefs using a simple yet effective method, overcoming the tedious aspect of reading music and acquiring fluency.
Precise and Rigorous Rhythm Reading : Exercises focused on rhythmic accuracy and efficiency, ensuring clarity and independence when reading a score.
In-Depth Repertoire Analysis : Exploring works in all their aspects (harmony, form, historical context) to fully grasp their internal logic.
Applied Music Theory ️: Every theoretical concept is immediately practiced in a real musical context for intuitive and lasting assimilation.
The goal? To develop a complete musical mastery, where rigor and understanding lead to a free and expressive interpretation.
No mechanical learning! We understand the music in order to play, sing, and interpret it with confidence and intention.
Typical Lesson Structure
Each session is structured yet flexible, adapting to the student’s expectations and level:
Aural and Vocal Warm-up : Exercises for interval recognition, rhythmic precision, and intonation, tailored to the student’s needs.
Music Theory and Sight-Reading : Working on note reading in different clefs, rhythmic accuracy, modes, harmony, and counterpoint.
Repertoire Analysis and Contextualization : Studying a piece or excerpt based on the student’s interests (Baroque, Romantic, Modern, etc.).
Choral Singing and Interpretation (Optional) : Focusing on phrasing, diction, and expressiveness through polyphonic works.
Practical Application : Exercises applied to the student’s vocal or instrumental repertoire for a meaningful and effective learning experience.
What Makes My Teaching Unique?
️ Professional Experience : Orchestra conductor, choir director, and conservatory professor.
️ Tailored Pedagogy : Custom-made lessons based on each student’s specific needs.
️ Versatility : Music theory, analysis, music history, and choral singing.
️ Exam and Competition Preparation : Comprehensive theoretical and practical reinforcement for conservatory students and musicology majors.

Recommendations
Recommendations come from relatives, friends and acquaintances of the tutor.
I’ve known Slimane for several years now, both as a friend and as a fellow creative. Over time, I’ve seen not only how talented he is as a musician and conductor, but also how genuinely invested he is in the people he teaches.
What really makes Slimane stand out as a tutor is the way he balances high standards with a very human approach. He adapts easily to each student’s level and personality, and he knows how to challenge them without ever discouraging them. He doesn’t just focus on technique, he helps his students understand the feeling and meaning behind the music, which makes a huge difference. Espacially during concerts.
One moment that really stayed with me was watching him lead a rehearsal with his orchestra. The way he communicates is clear and respectful. You can actually see the musicians more focused, more confident, more connected. And what’s remarkable is that he brings a great sense of humor into the process. He knows how to lighten the mood at just the right moment, which makes rehearsals both productive and genuinely enjoyable.
Slimane is not only a skilled musician and conductor, but also someone who truly cares about his students’ growth. I’m convinced that anyone learning with him will improve technically while also gaining confidence. (and they’ll probably have a lot of laughs along the way too!)I highly recommend Slimane as a tutor! He’s a great teacher who really knows how to adapt to each student’s needs and learning style.
He’s very patient and always takes the time to explain things clearly until they truly make sense. You can tell he’s passionate about what he teaches, and he knows exactly how to share that passion with his students.
He creates a positive and encouraging learning environment, which makes it easier to improve and stay motivated. I definitely recommend him!Slimane is an exceptional teacher of conducting. He taught me music theory, choir-based conducting and greatly trained my ear. Thanks to him, I developed keen listening skills and precise gestures, while learning to lead with sensitivity and efficiency.
Slim is a great teacher, who is really patient and attentive: he knows just what you need to unlock your issues and improve quickly! He has identified my needs in music theory so that I would not struggle, as I wanted to improve my music reading for my cello lessons. He is really knowledgeable but was able to adapt for a beginner level, and that is not so easy to find in a teacher.
