Music theory lessons by Guildhall School of Music PhD. All levels welcome!

I particularly enjoyed having the lessons in my own home using Zoom without the need to travel. Owen explained music theory very clearly and has helped me filled my knowledge gaps. I cannot believe I actually achieved 91/100 for my Grade 5 ABRSM exam at the end...!

I passed grade 5 theory with distinction! Owen's been very patient throughout my lessons and I found his approach extremely helpful in helping me achieve the best results.

I have learnt theory from Owen previously. For me (maybe not the same for others), because I was in a rush to complete the theory course so that I could take the approaching exam, rather than teaching normally bottom-up, Owen taught top-down. That is, he gave me practice papers and went through questions whichever I found difficult to handle.

I think that was a great method for me personally, and I also memorised stuff more effectively - though of course, if I were given another chance, I would hope to do a bottom-up theory course (which I can tell Owen is fully capable of) just so I would grasp music theory more fundamentally! But anyway, I have really to thank Owen for crashing through the course with me IN TIME for my case!

I believe other students will benefit from Owen's flexible, tailored-to-student teaching.

Owen's expertise in music is exceptional, and what's more invaluable is his rationale of teaching: he is a teacher who cares for the well-being of students and hence he does not only focus on the subject being taught, but would relate it to the wider context.
