About GlenDennis
I am a recently retired general music teacher with a B.Ed and B.of M degree and have taught band and singing in schools for 35 years. I also am a professional musician with my own bands and play regularly throughout Western Canada, specializing in Scottish and Irish dance music. We also, specialize in playing the music of the 40's, 50's and 60's. I initiated and established a 'Silent Music ' program for the school system that used electronic instruments that could be used in any classroom situation without disturbing adjacent classes. The program was both individual and collective and is very successful. I began life as a piano player, but became very interested in the accordion and became a winner very early in life at music festivals on that instrument. I went on to study music at the Universities of Calgary and Edmonton and Conducting as the Master's level. As a result of an interest in horseback riding, I became a very successful campfire musician, singing and playing the guitar on trail rides and other related outdoor activities. I am now retired from full time school teaching, but along with my wife, who is a fiddle player, we are developing a home music teaching business and want to share my vast musical background with new and interested students.

I have had great success in working with all kinds of student groups. I have worked with adult as well as youth groups and have had a great deal of success with both age groups. I especially enjoy working with interested adults who often realize that they have missed a great opportunity by not studying music earlier in life. I believe that music instruction should have components of both individual as well as group instruction. Once the basics have been learned, it is wonderful to share music in a group. I also believe that there is no set program of progress, in that everyone learns at their own pace. This is why it is essential that there is always a component of individual lesson time built into the lesson plans. Some students want to basically play for themselves, others want the thrill of the group. I am currently working with students aged 5 years to 65 years old.
