About Johanna
I am a German national and currently live in England.
Chronologically, I first obtained a dual qualification consisting of the French Baccalauréat and the German Abitur, before spending a year in Canada to further improve my English.
I then studied in France for three years, after which I moved to England to begin a PhD in cognitive psychology, focusing on bilingualism. In addition, I obtained qualifications in language teaching and Higher Education. I worked for a company specialising in psychological research before transitioning into language teaching.
On a daily basis, I speak French with my partner, German with my family, English at work and I use all three languages with friends around the world.

I offer dynamic, personalised lessons focused on real-life communication.
Each session is tailored to your goals—whether for travel, work, exams, or pleasure—with a balanced approach to speaking, listening, grammar and vocabulary. My aim is to help you achieve your goals and speak with confidence, in a supportive and stimulating learning environment. Learning a language can be a pleasure and I would be delighted to support you at every stage of your progress.
My PhD in cognitive psychology (specialising in bilingualism and the brain) and my certificate in language teaching and Higher Education enable me to understand how languages are learned and my teaching methods are guided by scientific research. I teach learners of all levels and all ages (my youngest student is just 4 years old, and my oldest is 64).
