About Mara

I have been teaching Physics for over four years, and my MPhil in Physics has given me a deep appreciation for how this science connects to the world around us. My approach is holistic and interdisciplinary, weaving together physics with the fascinating world of art and restoration. I explore how light interacts with pigments, how materials age, and how science reveals the hidden layers of paintings and sculptures. In my lessons, I use art historical examples to show how physics plays a role in understanding and preserving cultural treasures. I introduce students to the principles of non-destructive testing, explaining how we can study artworks without harming them. From spectroscopy to material analysis, I bring these concepts to life with clear explanations and engaging discussions. I have worked with art history students, conservationists, and those simply curious about the science behind cultural heritage. Whether you’re fascinated by the chemistry of a Renaissance fresco or the structural physics of ancient sculptures, I create lessons that are both accessible and inspiring. My teaching blends technical accuracy with storytelling, helping students see the beauty of physics in unexpected places. I also focus on the physical properties of art materials, from the way light scatters on a canvas to how varnishes change over time. Each session is designed to connect scientific theory with real-world application in art and conservation. Above all, I believe physics is not just about equations—it’s about discovery and care. Together, we can use physics to preserve, protect, and better understand the artistic masterpieces that shape our shared history.

My teaching approach in Physics is built on making complex ideas clear and engaging. I cover core topics like mechanics, thermodynamics, and electromagnetism, while also diving into exciting areas like astronomy, celestial mechanics, cosmology basics, and space exploration physics. Lessons are designed with plenty of repetition to help concepts stick, and I place strong emphasis on phonetic accuracy and active listening so students can express their ideas with confidence. I believe learning Physics should be more than memorising formulas—it should spark curiosity about how the universe works. That’s why I use real-world examples and discussions about space missions and discoveries to make every lesson relatable and inspiring. Students are encouraged to ask questions and think critically, gaining confidence as they explain what they’ve learned. As a tech enthusiast and skilled with Inventor, I bring in modern tools and visuals to simplify abstract concepts. Whether it’s understanding orbital paths or the basics of cosmology, I guide students step by step until they feel sure of their knowledge. My goal is to build a strong foundation while also refining their understanding of the cosmos. With steady support, practice, and an open, encouraging environment, students don’t just study Physics—they develop the skills and confidence to excel and discuss the wonders of the universe with ease.
