About Joshua

I have been a teacher's assistant for multiple programs within a university setting and have lead many discussions where peers communicate problem solving difficult problems. This knowledge combined with my general patience for learning has allowed me to help others thrive in courses they typically dread.

My goal for any person, student or peer, is for them to understand why we're doing the problem, understand how to set up the problem effectively and to develop an appreciation for the subject matter.

I have a strong belief that any one is capable of doing well in the sciences, it just requires a teacher that is able to guide the student to be successful.

About the lesson

My Strategy:
A lot of students and peers have told me that "Science isn't for me", but after teaching the subject in a way that works for them and introducing methods to tackle problems, students tend to succeed and enjoy the course material.

My Approach:
Every student is at a different level of expertise. First, I will learn what your strengths and weaknesses are in order to determine your style of learning. Creating practical problems in order to challenge a student in their weaker areas is vital to learning comprehension. As the building blocks for learning are formed, we can then introduce complexities such as tying concepts together and looking at the "big picture" of why we're doing these problems. Building example problems and including a few core concepts helps to formulate an overall understanding of the subject matter.
