About Karan

I am a Data Analytics graduate with an MSc with Distinction from Aston University and a background in mathematics, statistics, and programming. I have experience teaching mathematics and science to secondary and sixth-form students, and I offer tutoring in Python, data analysis, statistics, and mathematics from GCSE through to undergraduate level.
My approach is patient, structured, and focused on building genuine understanding rather than just exam technique. I adapt my explanations to each student's pace and learning style, using real examples to make abstract concepts click. I believe every student has the ability to improve with the right guidance and enough practice.
I hold a university degree with Distinction, have worked professionally as a data engineer, and take punctuality, preparation, and clear communication seriously. Sessions are well-organised, goal-focused, and tailored to what each student actually needs.
Whether you are struggling with GCSE maths, preparing for A-Level statistics, learning Python for the first time, or working through a university data science module, I can help you build confidence and make real progress.

About the lesson

I take a structured but conversational approach to tutoring. I start every first session by understanding exactly where the student is struggling and what they actually want to achieve, rather than following a rigid syllabus from the top. From there, I build sessions around their specific gaps.

For technical subjects like Python, data analysis, and mathematics, I work through concepts by doing rather than explaining. We write code together, solve problems live, and I ask questions rather than just presenting answers, so the student builds genuine understanding rather than memorising steps they'll forget the next day.

For students who find maths or statistics intimidating, I focus heavily on intuition first — why does this work, what does it mean — before introducing formal notation. Most students struggle not because the content is too hard but because it was never explained in plain language first.

Techniques and methodology:
Diagnostic-first approach — I identify the specific gap before teaching anything. Active problem-solving during sessions rather than passive listening. Regular checks for understanding, not just at the end. Clear summaries and practice problems provided after each session so progress continues between lessons.

Typical lesson length: 60 minutes for most students. 90 minutes for university-level or project-based work where deeper focus is needed. I keep sessions focused — a sharp 60 minutes is more valuable than a distracted 2 hours.

Qualifications and experience: MSc Data Analytics with Distinction from Aston University, covering statistical machine learning, neural networks, and probabilistic modelling. BE in Information Technology from NSIT Delhi. Professional experience as a Data Analyst and Engineer. I have also tutored mathematics and science students informally during the COVID-19 period in Delhi, helping students navigate disrupted schooling through structured remote sessions.
