About Lucy

Hi, I'm Lucy :)

I graduated in BA French and Italian from the University of Exeter in 2025. I have completed a year abroad in Sardinia and Paris. In both locations, I was based in the education field and learned a lot about both teaching to a class and how to make lesson resources behind the scenes.

I am a language lover and a linguistics nerd, so I am more than happy to help other people begin their language-learning journeys.

About the lesson

I completed a two-month internship in Paris at a company that provides English language courses and pedagogical materials. Despite the company offering English services, my French skills came into good practice both in the office and the classroom!

I have taken French from year 7, then GCSE, then A-Level, and now I have a Bachelor's degree in French and Italian. So, it is safe to say that I love French language and culture and I look forward to sharing my knowledge and experience with beginner learners or students who would like support for their GCSEs.

With a year of language teaching under my belt, I have learned how to make learning fun and engaging - I'm a big believer that it shouldn't be taught straight from the textbook!

I have experience working with 10-18 year olds, but I am more than happy to work with any age.

Lessons will normally last one hour, but happy to shorten or extend if you let me know in advance.

It was lovely to talk to you today Darren. Moving forward we will look at building your conversational French and expanding your sentences (though nothing too complicated!) We will go back over some basics to brush some things up and see where you're at over the next few weeks.
