About Harry

For as long as I can remember, I have been fascinated with history. I believe that history matures use, it seasons our attitudes and enriches our perspectives. Over the past 4 years, I have studied Modern and Contemporary History at Bangor University in North Wales, achieving a BA First Class (Hons) in the summer of 2021, and I am currently working towards my MA in History to be completed in September 2022.

Beyond my passion for history, I enjoy watching and participating in a wide variety of sports, including swimming, football and rugby. I also have a passion for travelling and experiencing different cultures.

I am very down-to-earth and friendly, and I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals whilst also having some fun.

About the lesson

My Sessions:

Sessions will last 1 hour and will focus on the areas you require the most assistance. I believe that communication is key as I struggled during periods of my GCSEs and A Levels with understanding what was required from my work. As a result, one of my main aims is to ensure that you understand what is expected of your work in exams and assignments by working through specifications and mark schemes. I will also aim to tailor the sessions to your preferred way of learning and studying to ensure that you are comfortable with the workload, understand the subject matter, and gain the most from our sessions as possible.

My Experience:

I have worked as a Teaching Assistant since 2017. In this role, I have worked in 23 schools supporting learning activities for pupils ranging from the ages of 3-11. I have experience working with pupils on a 1-1 basis, in small groups, and, on occasion, with a whole class. My time as a TA has allowed me to develop vital skills to ensure that my approach to tutoring is flexible to suit your requirements.

My specialist areas focus primarily on 19th and 20th-century history, notably:
- The Industrial Revolution
- The British Empire in the 19th century
- Britain in the 20th century
- The USA in the 20th century
- The Russian Revolution
- Both World Wars
- The Holocaust
- The Cold War in Europe
- The Cold War in Asia, specifically the conflicts in Korea and Vietnam
