About Mia
ESL is part of a thirteen-year tutoring career during which I have taught 630 students, ranging from complete beginners to advanced learners preparing for workplace communication and certification. My teaching philosophy is shaped heavily by years of consistent daily practice producing far better results than occasional long sessions, a principle I apply directly to language learning. I am a structured but warm tutor, believing steady, well-organized progress produces more reliable long-term results than sporadic intense study. Many students arrive frustrated by slow progress elsewhere, and rebuilding a clear, structured sense of direction is usually my first priority. Former students frequently update me on their continued progress.

My ESL lessons follow a structured, layered approach, introducing grammar systematically while ensuring every rule is immediately practiced through natural conversation tied to real-life situations rather than isolated exercises. I begin with a short diagnostic assessment to identify a student's specific strengths and weaknesses before designing a tailored lesson plan rather than following a generic syllabus. Vocabulary is grouped into thematic clusters connected to work, family, and daily errands, which consistently improves retention compared to isolated word lists memorized alone. I encourage daily short practice routines outside lessons rather than infrequent long study sessions, mirroring the consistency-based approach I use across all my teaching consistently.
