About Ishaan

I am thorough, patient and persistent. When a topic is challenging I dig deep until it makes sense, and I bring the same approach to every lesson. The goal is always the same: help students recognise patterns, understand why methods work, and feel confident walking into their exams.
First lesson is free so we can see how well we work together.

I specialise in making Maths and Physics clear, logical and exam-focused for National 5, Higher and GCSE students.
My approach to Maths
I have built detailed personal notes by working through dozens of past papers from 2000 to 2025. This helps me identify the repeated question styles and patterns that appear year after year. In lessons I show students:

Exactly how marks are awarded step-by-step
Multiple reliable methods to reach the same answer
Useful short-cut techniques (for example, simplified methods for 3×3 determinants and matrix inverses)

I also draw on clear explanations from trusted sources such as the DLB Maths channel so every method is broken down simply and logically.
My approach to Physics
I focus on real understanding rather than pure memorisation. I use simulation tools (such as EveryCircuit) to show how components like capacitors and inductors behave with different frequencies. I explain core topics in detail — for example how a p-n junction diode works in both forward and reverse bias — and I share useful tools with students so they can explore further themselves.
Making lessons interesting and easy
I regularly use simple, memorable analogies to turn difficult ideas into something students can picture. Examples include:

Comparing a large sink taking longer to empty with a high-capacitance capacitor taking longer to discharge
Using a coconut-shy (fairground game) analogy to explain the photoelectric effect
Explaining quantum tunnelling with a barrier analogy: classically, a ball rolling towards a hill will bounce back if it does not have enough energy to reach the top. In quantum physics the particle is described by a wave function, which gives the probability of finding it in different places. Even when the particle does not have enough energy to go over the barrier, part of its wave function can extend through the barrier, giving a real chance that the particle will “tunnel” through and appear on the other side
Explaining the Heisenberg Uncertainty Principle with a simple camera analogy: just as a short camera exposure freezes a football’s position but loses information about its speed, while a longer exposure shows motion but blurs the position, quantum particles cannot have both a perfectly known position and a perfectly known momentum at the same time. The more precisely one is known, the less precisely the other can be known

I am thorough, patient and persistent. When a topic is challenging I dig deep until it makes sense, and I bring the same approach to every lesson. The goal is always the same: help students recognise patterns, understand why methods work, and feel confident walking into their exams.
