About Cameron

I am currently a member of the Hallé viola section and alongside this I work with other UK orchestras including, the London Symphony, Philharmonia, London Philharmonic and BBC Symphony. I have also played as section leader of the Bournemouth Symphony, Royal Philharmonic Concert Orchestra, Birmingham Royal Ballet and Ulster Orchestra. As a member of the Southbank Sinfonia in 2014 I performed Bruch's Romance as soloist at St. Martin in the Fields in London.

I have led workshops and lessons in schools across England and Australia in both one-on-one and group contexts. Over this time I have acquired experience teaching students of all ages and abilities. I have learnt that it is of the utmost importance to teach students based on their individual needs and learning styles rather than imposing a 'one-size-fits-all' approach. This enables students to enjoy their musical education and reach their personal musical goals.

About the lesson

I am a full-time member of the Hallé Orchestra and love teaching violin and viola students of all ages and levels of experience, from complete beginners to very advanced players.

During my Bachelor of Music I chose to study a pedagogy elective which solidified my interest in teaching. From this elective and years of private teaching I have become attuned to the different ways in which students learn, and therefore adjust my techniques according to the inclinations of the student, so they can reap the most benefit.

I am a very flexible teacher and always listen to what the students goals are. Whether you want to do exams, prepare to study performance at tertiary level or simply want to take up violin/viola as a hobby alongside your day job, I'm happy to help.

I mainly teach from my apartment in West Didsbury but can travel to the student's home for a fee depending on the distance and time required to travel. I am also available for online lessons.

I believe that so much can be gained through musical education intellectually, creatively and socially and am passionate about including as many people in that as possible.
