About Oliver
I’m a second year medical student based at the University of Leeds. I chose to enter into the pathway to a career as a doctor owing to its people-oriented focus and the requirement for dedication to lifelong learning and research.
Extracurricular to my studies, I involve myself with rugby and football. I also enjoy running and hiking. I used to play piano and violin and have recently been making the effort to refresh my (long lost) skills!

With experience tutoring 6-18 year olds a broad spectrum of topics via a local charity, and the sciences, classics and Spanish at school clinics, I have learnt how to effectively tutor a wide variety of both subjects and pupils, as well as how to tailor my teaching style to each individual’s needs.
Another method I like to use in tutor sessions and my own studying is reviewing past paper questions - they are a great way of applying knowledge in a format similar to exams. This helps highlight any areas of uncertainty, which we can then focus on during the session and develop a better understanding of.
I also highly value a collaborative approach - the more questions, the better! This keeps my sessions engaging and focussed around the pupil, and makes sure that we maximise the little lesson time we do have. What makes me stand out is my emphasis on results - through frequent testing and a question based, tutorial style approach to lessons I will ensure a sound understanding of subject content is gained. This focus on understanding, rather than fact recall, will make longer, trickier questions more accessible and prove beneficial to my pupils in their future studies.
I will help my students improve by being focussed, consistent and specific in my lessons, and working closely with my student to achieve the best possible outcome. I pride myself on being approachable, friendly and results driven, and I can’t wait to get working with you!
