About Sami

I am a second-year Medical Student at the University of Edinburgh. I have 2 years of tutoring experience, during which I have helped over 20 students achieve their academic goals.

I’ve consistently achieved top grades, including straight As at National 5 and Higher, and ABB at Advanced Higher.

Having spent years studying Maths and helping others along the way, I understand how overwhelming it can sometimes feel. My teaching style is clear, patient, and student-focused. I break down complex processes into manageable parts using relatable examples and diagrams, and aim to build your confidence. I encourage questions and help you trust your ability to understand and apply key biological concepts.

About the lesson

Each lesson is tailored to the student’s specific needs, whether they’re just starting out or aiming to deepen their understanding and secure top grades. Before your first lesson, I offer a free phone consultation to understand your goals and learning style.

I begin by identifying each student’s strengths and areas for improvement, then build a personalised lesson plan that targets their goals. Mathematical concepts are broken down clearly and simply, using real-life examples and step-by-step explanations to make them easier to grasp. We work through practice problems together, with guided walkthroughs that show how to approach and solve questions effectively. Students are then encouraged to apply these methods independently, reinforcing their understanding and building confidence.

Throughout our sessions, I place a strong emphasis on exam technique — including how to interpret questions, manage time under pressure, and avoid common pitfalls. These skills often make a big difference when it comes to achieving top marks.

My teaching style is patient and supportive, creating a space where students feel confident asking questions and engaging fully with the material. By the end of each lesson, students leave with a clear understanding of what they've learned and practical steps to keep improving.
