About Katie

I am a second-year medical student at Leeds with a passion for science, I obtained 11 grade 9 GCSEs and 4 A*s at A-level for
Biology, Chemistry, Maths and Physics.
Since, I have built up 4 years of tutoring experience for science and maths GCSE, my knowledge of the content and how to ace exams is extremely thorough!
I genuinely love tutoring and inspiring my students that they are capable of whatever they put their mind to.

About the lesson

All lessons can be catered to your preference; however, I usually follow the structure outlined below:
In our first lesson we will go through areas of the course which you have completed at school to assess your current understanding.
In the following lessons we will follow a structured plan in order to cover areas you find difficult; I will ask frequent questions throughout our sessions to assess whether you have been grasping the concepts.
After the session I will set you some practice questions as homework to return to me the next week.
My main methodology is understanding of the content as opposed to rope learning and blindly answering questions, I like to use analogies and diagrams to explain concepts.
Frequent feedback I receive is that of gaining a new appreciation of the subject as well as frequent wow moments of "it makes so much more sense now."
Lessons tend to be around 1 hour and 15 minutes in order for us to have a solid block of learning time outside of briefing and debriefing of the session.
If we work together in the lead up to exams the focus shifts to revision, I often set students a chapter to revise that week and, in the session, we practice exam techniques and go through questions together.
