About Shawn

My name is Shawn, and I am a third-year Medical Student at Lancaster University with a strong track record in teaching and academic mentoring. Through my work with younger medical students, sixth-form applicants, and GCSE/A-Level learners, I’ve developed a calm, structured and highly effective approach to tutoring. About the lesson

My Approach to Tutoring I focus on building strong foundations, clear understanding, and exam-ready confidence. I break topics down into simple, logical steps and then build complexity gradually so students genuinely understand why something works rather than just memorising facts. I use active questioning, diagrams, worked examples and spaced repetition to make sure learning sticks. During lessons, I identify gaps quickly and tailor the pace to each student. My goal is always to make students independent learners — able to think, explain their reasoning, and approach exam questions systematically. Teaching Methodology Explain → Apply → Test structure for every topic. Use past papers and exam-style questions from the start. Short recall drills each lesson to strengthen long-term memory. Clear frameworks for answering long-form questions. Honest, constructive feedback so students improve quickly. I keep sessions engaging, straightforward and focused on real progress rather than overwhelming content. Lesson Length Most lessons are 60 minutes, with 90-minute sessions available for students preparing for exams or needing deeper consolidation.
