About Conrad
Hi! My name is Conrad and I am a First Year Medical Student at King's College London. I have just passed through the process of medical school applications in which I have:
- Passed my Medicine Access Course with the 45 graded credits achieved at 39 distinctions and 6 merits to meet the entry requirements.
- Progressed my starting mock UCAT score from 2400 and a Band 3 to an eventual 2930 and a Band 1 in the real test (equates to 2150 B1 since abstract reasoning was removed).
- Equipped myself with the skills to excel in each station of the medical school interview, obtaining three unconditional offers from King's College London, Exeter and Bristol.
Particularly as students study for these tests and interviews alongside A-Levels, I see my role as a tutor as being to equip students with the skills required to excel in a speedy though effective way such that they are able to stay on track with their subjects.

The goal for every student I tutor is to guide them in progressing their skills and knowledge to achieve a place at medical school.
For the UCAT, I start by sharing my strategies with the goal of tailoring these tips to the students so that they can progress their scores in every section (Verbal Reasoning, Decision-Making, Quantitative Reasoning and Situational Judgement). I try to ensure my sessions are effective and enjoyable through encouraging my students to be proactive and participate through section specific games and exercises so that they find it easier to start using the strategies whilst improving their speed. Finally, I set them a study routine to support them in staying on track up until test day.
My scores in the UCAT were
VR - 660
DM - 660
QR - 830
SJ - B1
For medicine interviews, I share the process I took as an aspiring medical student in a way that is tailored to the student's style of learning. I support the student in forming a narrative story about themselves to showcase that they have the right skills to be a safe and effective medical student and doctor. I equip the students with the tools to stay calm and show enthusiasm and the ability to tackle every type of station or question that shows up. There are four topics I take the student through - Skills and traits, motivations, the role of the doctor and the NHS, and practical stations.
Towards the end, I carry out tailored mock interviews to simulate the real interview where the student is able to put their skills into action. Finally, I share tips to improve at each station so the student is able to score higher and reach their place at medical school!

Perfect! I just had my first lesson with Conrad and it went really well! I’ll admit I was a bit hesitant about getting a UCAT tutor at first, since the exam felt more like something you just practise for rather than get taught. But Conrad really showed me that there are strategies and techniques that can make a big difference. He explained things clearly and made me feel much calmer about how to approach the UCAT. Definitely glad I booked with him!
