About Aly
Hi! I'm Aly, I'm 20, currently living in Manchester and studying Mechanical Engineering at the University of Manchester. I've been tutoring for 3 years and began in sixth form where I tutored a group of students going to sit their GCSEs. I've tutored many students and so I've learned that not every student has the same needs and expectations which is why I'm capable of adapting to each case in order to help my students get the most of our time together.

What to expect in the first lesson? In the first lesson I would like to go over what the targets of my students are in order to set some clear and attainable goals which we can work towards. I like starting by figuring out what are the strengths and weaknesses of my student so that we can make the most of our time together by focusing on areas that the student may need more support in. What does the typical lesson look like? Before any lesson I like to have the student send me any work they have done during the work that they need some help with so I can ensure an adequate plan is set before our time together, this helps save time during the lesson and makes our time together more effective. I like going through these questions that students might struggle with together allowing them to attempt them on their own with support ready if needed. I found that this helps students develop more confidence in their abilities. I believe one of the biggest issues many students struggle with is a lack of confidence in their ability, this can often lead to students being afraid to give things a proper go in case they get it wrong which stops them from being able to learn and improve. My typical lesson is around 1-2 hours as I feel any longer and students begin to wear out and lose focus.

Aly helped tutor me for my Alevel maths, he helped me achieve an A* last year. He walks me through tough questions and helped me with my exam technique and allowed me to solve questions in half the time it usually took me. He worked on my weekness's to ensure I was prepared for my exams.
