About Emil
I re-entered education, studying Product Design Engineering between the University of Glasgow and the Glasgow School of Art, after taking a few years out of school to work as a Bicycle Mechanic. My passions are about design, and what we can learn from the wealth of design history around us. Nearly every object we interact with every day has been made deliberately, and required the principles of Mathematics, Engineering and Art in its design and manufacture. I’m a keen cyclist and enjoy the outdoors and being mindful. I believe communication is extremely valuable and always strive to be open and honest, even in uncomfortable situations. I hope I can share this outlook with my students.

I’m passionate about education, and genuinely love what I study. My approach to teaching involves equipping you to understand the principles of mathematics and its applications in STEM. I believe by applying these first principles you will be successful in any problem you tackle. This differs from the methods used in many classrooms where you are shown techniques without understanding any of the derivations, or how you could reach these conclusions on your own. I’ve worked in industry and can draw from a wealth of experience to show real-world applications of what I teach in action. We are surrounded by design which many people don’t notice in their day-to-day lives, and by being mindful of the world around us we can learn a lot.
