About Marie-Elyse

I am a post-doctoral fellow and I currently study the genetics, imaging, maternal mood, and other environmental factors in the context of ADHD. I am a citizen representative on an executive board that focuses on mental health, youth, and their families. I have a PhD in Neuroscience from McGill. I have a Master's in biochemistry from Université de Montréal. I have a Bachelor in biochemistry and pharmacology from McGill. I have taken management courses and business courses as extracurricular. I taught swimming to toddlers and teenagers for 5 years at Pointe-Claire pool. I gave swim and gym lessons to kids that have autism, Down syndrome, sensory problems... I am a mom of a bilingual 4 y.o. I can organize parent-tot music activities in French and English to stimulate linguistic abilities during the early critical period. I worked in pharma and academia. I worked at the top chemical company in the world in Germany. I have traveled to over 30 countries. My PhD thesis was well-received and I could mentor and coach individuals through all the steps to go from idea to draft to finished product. I can help with the framing of questions and data analysis. I can offer my analytical and creative problem-solving skills. I am currently starting up a company.

About the lesson

I can give guidance through a big project like your honors project, master's or PhD proposals, papers, and thesis. Don't be ashamed of your drafts, we can work from an outline through several drafts. The same goes for data analysis. We can go from simple models to more complex dissections of your data. I am an open-minded teacher and flexible in the curriculum you need. I have quite a range of experience. My experience as a gym and swim instructor, as well as a mom, has made me tolerant and patient. My daughter has a lot of energy and I understand that kids will be kids. I will focus on making progress. I can help coach kids and adults to find leadership and get on board with achieving greater goals.

She guided me through my Masters, helping me plan my project and analyses, and teaching me relevant skills such as how to use MatLab. Her guidance was clear, and made something, that at first seemed complex, simple. She helped me so much!

I have known Marie- Elyse since she began her Phd (we were colleagues working is collaborating labs). She has always been a very hard working, dedicated and reliable student.
She has great and solid scientific knowledge, both on her field and in data analysis and I believe that students would greatly benefit from the amount of knowledge and experience that she can share.
She is also very dedicated and patient to explain concepts and help others. In different occasions she helped me with reviewing manuscripts (admission letter, conference abstracts) and provided very helpful insights. I have also had the chance to participate in her Matlab tutorials and found her to be very good in explaining difficult concepts.
I highly recommend Marie -Elyse as a tutor, because not only she possesses great scientific knowledge, but she also has great teaching skills and is capable of making complicated subjects seem simple. Always with a lot of patience and enthusiasm!
