About Fergus
I’m 18 and have just finished college, where I studied Maths at A-Level and achieved an A*. I’ve always really enjoyed the subject and like helping others to understand it too. I’m patient and explain things clearly, making sure students not only know the steps but also why they work. Outside of studying, I play football and enjoy keeping active, which helps me bring energy and focus to my lessons. I’m approachable, organised, and committed to helping students feel more confident in their Maths.

My approach to tutoring Maths is structured but flexible. I start with a full topic list and work through each area systematically. Once a student understands a topic, I ask them to write out the method in detail, step by step, as if they were teaching it to someone else. This ensures they don’t just memorise the process but actually understand how and why it works. After that, we reinforce the knowledge with practice questions until they can answer them consistently without mistakes. I also use past papers regularly so students become confident with exam-style questions and time management. Lessons typically last between 1 hour and 1.5 hours, depending on the student’s needs. My teaching is aimed at both GCSE and A-Level students who want to strengthen their understanding and improve their exam performance.
