About Rohan
I’m a second-year mechanical engineering student at Edinburgh University, with a deep passion for both maths and music. With A-star A-levels in both subjects and qualifications up to Grade 8 in piano, trumpet and organ, I’ve always loved the process of learning and understanding. I’ve also spent six months teaching music in Bangkok to ages 8-18, where I discovered just how rewarding it is to help others develop their skills.
I want to teach because I believe in the power of strong fundamentals, both in maths and music. Having the right foundations is essential, and I enjoy guiding students toward mastering these early on. I’ve seen how much confidence and progress can come from overcoming challenges with the right support, and I’m motivated by the idea of helping others succeed in these areas, whether they're tackling maths problems or improving their musical abilities. Teaching allows me to share my knowledge and passion while seeing my students grow and achieve their goals.

In my lessons, I place a strong emphasis on mastering the fundamentals, particularly in maths and piano, as I believe a solid foundation is key to long-term success. From my experience, I’ve seen how challenging it can be to correct bad habits later on, so I focus on building strong, correct techniques from the start with a fine eye for detail so pupils can learn how to learn.
For maths, I guide students through core concepts, helping them gain a deep understanding of the material before tackling more complex topics. In music, I emphasise the importance of good form and musical understanding to avoid developing habits that could hold you back later.
Each lesson is structured around the student's needs, incorporating problem-solving, theory, and performance practice, with a strong focus on personal growth. Sessions are available both online and in person, tailored to be engaging, productive, and suited to all levels.
