About Henry

My experience in math, chemistry and biology comes from my time at university. I hold an A.S. in Mathematics from Minneapolis College, and am in the process of completing a B.S. in Chemistry with honors from the University of Minnesota, College of Science and Engineering. I worked as a tutor to high school and college students during my time in school for one year, as well as in the laboratory researching new methods in organic synthesis and molecular biology for two years. My coursework in mathematics heavily emphasized calculus, including single-variable and multivariable as well as differential equations, analysis, and Fourier transforms.

About the lesson

I will strive to provide you with a nurturing, patient, and encouraging learning environment while also pushing you to achieve your full potential.

Every pupil comes to the table with a different set of skills, educational aspirations, and learning styles. Because of this the work with my students doesn't end with the conclusion of the lesson - I take the time to observe their response to and productivity of different methods for each individual, and develop an approach tailored to them.

Nevertheless, in my experience the most effective method for most students of mathematics and the sciences is quite simple: do it. Working problems with gentle guidance is rewarding for students and is excellent at reinforcing concepts conveyed in the classroom. Beyond this I often hold short, interactive conversations on specific topics which may not have been adequately absorbed in the classroom, and, for precocious students, I like to extend lessons to include examples that showcase the practicality, fun, and beauty of whichever subject we are working on.

I believe that education is the key to a brighter future for us all, and so I take this work seriously, and approach it with great care and attention to detail.

I am currently accepting learners at the elementary through high school levels, including those preparing for college entrance exams.

I got an A on my algebra 2 final and felt confident enough to go on to precalculus. He explains things in a really precise way and knows how to come at a problem from many angles.
