About Willa
My passion for mathematics began with a fascination for patterns, logic, and the elegance of problem-solving. I earned a B.Sc in Applied Mathematics, where I developed expertise in theoretical and applied topics, from algebra and calculus to statistics and discrete mathematics. Over 12 years of teaching, I have guided learners of diverse backgrounds to cultivate understanding, analytical skills, and self-confidence in mathematics.
I believe in a patient, adaptable, and engaging teaching approach. Lessons are tailored to individual learning styles, integrating examples, visualisations, and interactive exercises that make abstract concepts accessible. I encourage exploration, reflection, and multiple solution strategies to help students develop both competence and independent thinking.
Outside teaching, I continue to study mathematics through applied projects, research, and interdisciplinary work. Teaching mathematics is deeply rewarding because I see learners grow from uncertainty to clarity, building analytical abilities and curiosity. Supporting students to become confident problem-solvers and independent thinkers is the most fulfilling part of my work.

Mathematics lessons with me are structured to cultivate conceptual understanding, analytical reasoning, and practical problem-solving skills. I focus on connecting abstract concepts to real-life applications, covering algebra, calculus, geometry, probability, and statistics in a progressive manner. Lessons are interactive, using visual aids, worked examples, and applied exercises to enhance comprehension. Students are encouraged to ask questions, explore multiple strategies, and reflect on their reasoning to develop both competence and confidence. I tailor sessions to meet each learner’s current level while gradually introducing more challenging concepts.
As students advance, lessons cover topics such as multivariable calculus, linear algebra, discrete mathematics, and optimisation. I emphasise step-by-step problem-solving, structured reasoning, and critical analysis of solutions. Assignments and exercises are designed to reinforce conceptual understanding, improve calculation skills, and foster independent thinking. Feedback is consistent, detailed, and constructive, ensuring learners refine both understanding and approach.
Mathematics education also nurtures focus, patience, and logical reasoning. Students gain confidence in applying concepts, solving complex problems, and approaching challenges systematically. My goal is to inspire a genuine appreciation for mathematics while equipping learners with the skills and mindset necessary for academic success and intellectual growth.
