Hi, I'm Christian!

I look forward to helping you succeed in your math classes, and maybe I'll even help you like math!

I promise to be respectful, kind, understanding, and passionate while teaching you about math.

If you're wondering if I am qualified to be a math tutor:

I scored a 760/800 on the math section of the SAT.

I attended and graduated high school at the Texas Academy of Mathematics and Science (TAMS) and UNT last spring.

Before attending TAMS, while at Decatur Middle School, I had to receive daily transportation to the local high school during my 8th-grade year in order to take Geometry, which wasn't offered at the middle school.

About the lesson

Middle and high school mathematics is often taught without answering any conceptual questions that kids should naturally have when learning math. How many kids in algebra can give a good definition of what a function is? Do calculus students understand why the mean value theorem makes sense?

My goal is to teach kids the fun part of math: the concepts! Memorizing the steps necessary to solve a math problem doesn't help a student out much. I want to help build a student's mathematical understanding and teach them how to think about math the right way so that they don't need tutoring for the rest of their education!

I would feel comfortable tutoring for any algebra, calculus, logic, or geometry class that your student might be in. I take pride in being able to break down concepts into simple ideas that any student can understand, and can match the pace of your student.

My tutoring sessions can meet the needs of your student. We can go through their homework together, review a previous test, or study for an upcoming test.

I also scored a 1540/1600 on the SAT, and a 1440/1520 on the PSAT, so if your student needs tutoring for either of these tests, I can help!
