About Avi

Why My Approach Works Adaptability: I adjust my teaching style to suit the student's learning pace and preferences. Results-Oriented: I focus on measurable progress, whether it’s improving grades, mastering a topic, or passing an exam. Supportive Environment: I create a safe space where students feel empowered to learn and grow. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Techniques and Teaching Methodology - Personalised Learning: I assess the student's current understanding and tailor lessons to their specific needs. I focus on filling knowledge gaps and building a strong foundation before moving to advanced topics. Interactive and Engaging: I use real-world examples and practical applications to make abstract concepts relatable. I encourage questions and discussions to ensure the student is actively engaged. Step-by-Step Problem Solving: I break down complex problems into manageable steps. I emphasise understanding the "why" behind each step, not just the "how." Visual and Hands-On Tools: I use visual aids like graphs, diagrams, and animations to explain concepts. For younger students, I incorporate hands-on activities or games to make learning fun. Practice and Feedback: I provide plenty of practice problems and past exam questions. I give constructive feedback and work through mistakes to reinforce learning. Confidence Building: I create a supportive environment where students feel comfortable making mistakes and asking questions. I celebrate progress to boost their confidence and motivation. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Typical Length of a Lesson - Standard Lesson: 60 minutes. This allows enough time to explain concepts, work through examples, and address questions. Intensive Sessions: 90–120 minutes for exam preparation or tackling complex topics. Frequency: 1–3 sessions per week, depending on the student's goals and schedule. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Who the Lessons Are For - School Students: Levels: GCSE, A-Level, or equivalent. Age: 11–18 years. Focus: Exam preparation, homework help, and foundational understanding. University Students: Levels: Undergraduate or postgraduate. Subjects: Multi-variate Calculus, Linear Algebra, Statistics, Probability, Stochastic Calculus, Financial Mathematics, or Coding. Focus: Assignments, exam prep, and real-world applications. Adult Learners: Levels: Beginners to advanced. Subjects: Basic maths, financial literacy, or coding (C++, Python, R, MATLAB). Focus: Career development, personal interest, or skill-building. Competition or Scholarship Preparation: Levels: Sixth Form or university. Focus: Maths Olympiads, STEP exams, or maths finance-related competitions and examinations. --------------------------------------------------------------------------- Qualifications/Experience Academic Background: Bachelor’s degree in Mathematics. Master’s degree in Mathematics and Finance with Distinction (Placed Top of my cohort). Coding Skills: Proficient in C++, Python, R, and MATLAB, which I use to teach computational mathematics or data analysis. Teaching Experience: Tutored undergraduate mathematics students in Linear Algebra, statistics, and mathematical modelling with 96% of students achieving a 1:1. Taught high school students preparing for GCSEs, or A-Levels all students achieving 8s or 9s, A*/As. Conducted workshops on coding and data analysis for beginners.
