The problem I find with most math programs in the country are that they aim to have students memorize formulas. This works for a time, but at some point things begin to fall apart. No one can memorize infinite stuff!!! This is why most people begin to think they are "bad at math" or that math is too difficult for them.
Nothing could be further from the truth - math is a subject anyone can understand and enjoy if they can understand the underlying principles that make those icky formulas work. I make sure my students understand what is going on behind the scenes in their math work through conversations and open ended questions. I then take what they know and use fun or relatable ways to fill in the gaps in their knowledge.
I specialize in 4th-8th grade math, which is when I find most kids begin to struggle. The main culprit? Fractions! I will help you understand fractions, algebra, and any other problem you are having. I will help you lay a great foundation for you math journey.
I also work with 9th and 10th graders on Geometry and Algebra and Algebra II, applying the same principles of understanding and comprehension over memorization.
