About Sean

Hi, I’m Sean! I hold a Bachelor of Science in Mathematics and Its Applications from Toronto Metropolitan University. My mother is an elementary school teacher, and growing up, I learned firsthand the value of patience, empathy, and effective teaching techniques. While I’m new to professional tutoring, I have a strong understanding of math and a passion for helping others learn. I’ve often supported classmates and peers by explaining concepts in a clear and approachable way, which has made me realize how much I enjoy teaching. I approach each session with care and professionalism, focusing on making math less intimidating and more enjoyable. My goal is to help students understand why math works, not just how, so they can feel more confident and independent when solving problems. With a strong academic background, a natural ability to communicate complex ideas simply, and a deep respect for the learning process, I am committed to helping students reach their full potential in math.

About the lesson

As a tutor, I focus on helping students understand the why behind math, not just the how. My goal is to show students the importance and beauty of mathematics, so they can experience the satisfaction and fun of discovering solutions on their own. I believe math is much more than memorizing formulas or steps—it's about building a solid understanding of core concepts, recognizing patterns, and thinking creatively to solve problems.

In a typical lesson, we dive into the reasoning behind mathematical concepts before applying them to practice problems. I guide students through the thought process, encouraging curiosity and critical thinking. Once they grasp the fundamentals, we work together on applying these ideas, helping them gain confidence and independence in solving problems.

What sets me apart is my emphasis on developing true comprehension, which empowers students to tackle new challenges with creativity and resilience. My lessons are tailored to each student’s needs, whether they’re catching up, aiming for top marks, or preparing for post-secondary studies.

I offer tutoring for students from elementary school through Grade 12, across all levels and streams of math.
