About Doryeon

Hi! I'm a UBC student with a strong passion for mathematics and teaching. I completed the International Baccalaureate (IB) Diploma Programme and studied IB Mathematics: Analysis and Approaches (AA) Higher Level, which gave me a solid foundation in advanced mathematics, problem-solving, and analytical thinking.
I understand that every student learns differently, so I aim to create a supportive and encouraging environment where students feel comfortable asking questions and learning at their own pace. My goal is not only to help improve grades but also to build confidence and develop a deeper understanding of mathematical concepts.

Whether you're looking for homework support, exam preparation, or help with challenging topics, I'll tailor each lesson to your individual needs. I look forward to helping you achieve your academic goals and making math feel more approachable and enjoyable.

About the lesson

I believe every student can succeed in math with the right guidance and encouragement. My teaching approach focuses on building a strong understanding of concepts rather than memorizing formulas. I explain ideas step by step, adapt lessons to each student's learning style, and encourage questions in a supportive, patient environment.
A typical lesson begins by reviewing previous material and identifying any areas of difficulty. We then work through new concepts using clear explanations and examples, followed by guided practice and independent problem-solving to reinforce learning. Before the lesson ends, we review key points and discuss strategies for homework or upcoming tests.

What sets me apart is my patience and ability to explain complex topics in a simple, approachable way. I strive to help students gain confidence, develop critical thinking skills, and become independent learners—not just improve their grades.

I offer lessons for students of all levels, from elementary and middle school math to high school courses, including algebra, geometry, trigonometry, pre-calculus, and introductory calculus. Whether you need homework support, exam preparation, or want to strengthen your mathematical foundation, I tailor each lesson to help you reach your goals.
