About Isla
With over 7 years of experience and a BSc in Mathematics and Statistics, I guide high school students through the demands of IB and A-Level Mathematics. My focus is always on conceptual clarity, ensuring students develop a deep understanding rather than just memorising formulas. I specialise in Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics, making these subjects less intimidating through clear explanations and practical examples. I encourage students to approach problems from multiple angles, showing that flexibility in thinking leads to stronger results. Regular past paper practice is central to my lessons, as it improves exam technique and builds confidence. Each session is interactive, giving students the space to ask questions and explore concepts fully. I also track progress carefully to make sure gaps in understanding are addressed. Over time, students gain both the knowledge and resilience needed to handle exam challenges. My approach is supportive but also encourages independence. I want students to feel confident enough to solve problems on their own. Step by step, we move from uncertainty to mastery. Mathematics doesn’t have to feel overwhelming. With patience and the right guidance, every student can excel and achieve their academic goals.

My teaching approach is all about making Maths an understandable and rewarding subject. I believe that every big challenge can be broken into smaller, manageable steps that lead to clarity. I place emphasis on Algebra, Geometry, and Statistics, but also help learners handle more advanced areas like Calculus and Trigonometry. Exam preparation is a strong part of my method, using past paper practice and structured revision to build both confidence and exam speed. Career switchers benefit as they sharpen analytical skills useful in professional fields. I create interactive lessons where students are encouraged to explore ideas and experiment with multiple approaches. Flexibility in problem-solving is one of the key strengths I help students develop. Mistakes are seen as stepping stones, and I ensure learners feel supported through the process.
