About Tarek
I am a graduate from the University of Toronto's Rotman School of Commerce, where I majored in finance and minored in economics, and I currently work as a financial analyst. I began tutoring my little sister when I was away because she had a hard time understanding concepts in class. When she started improving, her friends started joining and we started doing group tutoring sessions, and their grades all improved too! Feeling pride for someone else's accomplishment was a tremendous feeling for me, and as word spread amongst the mothers of these children, I started formally tutoring. I am a great communicator that can explain concepts in different ways, which I think is what sets me apart from other tutors that some kids find no luck with. When a child's base of understanding is slightly flawed, then we can't expect practice problems alone to solve the issue. I try to get an understanding of how the child thinks, build up the understanding from there, and I must say it works every time!

With over 4 years of formal tutoring experience, I am passionate about helping middle school students excel with math!
I have always valued understanding in the process of learning, and I believe children intuitively understand whether or not they have a good base; it's to that end that I place a very high emphasis on ensuring a solid level of comprehension through excellent communication on my end, and I work to the strengths and learning style of the child.
Math is just a puzzle waiting to be solved, and I make sure the kids think about it like that too!
