I like to teach with the student in mind, so I like creating an assessment to find where the students is and teach. I like to see the students doing because I am with the belief that with practice we get better. I will typically start lesson with something in the real world to connect to the skill or concept we will be learning. I will, then, have some practice problem to check needed skills and abilities to see how we will begin. We may have to review before we go on. We then have the lesson where we learn the concept. The student will have practice together and some homework to make sure student has understood what needs to be learned.
