About Marcie
I had my own classroom for 16 plus years. I worked with students in Kindergarten through fifth grade. I was afraid of students who were taller than me, but the past year, I have subbed in the high school. I have enjoyed being in each room. I enjoy working with small groups and discussing the material that they are reading. It is fun for me to read books that kids are reading to discuss their thoughts and points of views on the story. It is important to me to find books that student enjoys, even if it is a comic book. Sometimes a good picture book can tell a great story.
I would like to help students learn the magic a book can teach them and create a life long learner and reader out of them.

For younger students we can work on phonemic awareness and other areas of making words. We would build on sounds of the letters and slowly work our way up to making words and reading age and ability books. For older students we can work on understanding literature like author’s point of view, inference and other literary tools for understanding. If there are areas of reading that a student is having problems, ie letter recognition, we can work on ways to help identify letters other than regular memorization.
