About Lisa

I live in California and I am married and have a daughter and grandson who live with me. My grandson is almost 17 years old and will be a junior in high school this year.

My husband works with autistic children as a behavioral intervetionist. We have 4 cats and a puppy. I work full-time at a private university and will be retiring next June after 24 years.

I am in the middle of a career change from academic administration to teaching and will be teaching full-time ESL once I finish my diploma program along with my tutoring.

I am passionate about helping others succeed. I want to get to know my students and their needs so that I can help them achieve their goals and succeed.

About the lesson

I am passionate about the English language. Whether it's reading, writing or vocabulary I want to help others reach their full potential to communicate with others. Communication is the key to understanding the world around us.

I have experience working with children who have IEPs (Individual Education Plans) in place, as well as Dyslexia. I am able to work with students that have English as a second language. As I am currently working with two adult students as conversation partners/tutors that are ESL tutors and I am studying for my TEFL diploma and will graduate with that at the the end of July 2023.

I have helped all ages with writing essays and understanding what the parts of an effective essay are. Grammar and vocabulary are essential tools that all English speakers should know and I can focus on those as well. What it really comes down to is understanding the many rules that we have in the English language and how we utilize those rules.

Teaching and learning are a partnership and I want to enter into that with a willing person who wants to take the knowledge that I have to give.
