About Roisin
I have been a qualified teacher for 10 years working with young people aged 4 to 18, with a particular focus on Math. I am passionate about igniting a love for learning and seeing the beauty in Mathematics by carefully selecting problems suited to the individual's level. I taught all curricular areas to primary students for 5 years before moving to the secondary sector as a Principal Teacher of Numeracy for two years before moving to a full-time position as a secondary Mathematics teacher. All roles based around Glasgow.
I have worked with many students who are not confident in Mathematics. Often this is due to a lack of understanding at some stage in their learning. I get so much joy from seeing those 'light bulb' moments after I've explained the concept in a different way.
I also have tutored multiple students at a range of levels, including preparation for SQA examinations.

I like to meet with a student and their parent/carer for an introductory meeting where we discuss our shared expectations and plan. In a typical 1 hour session, I begin by establishing what the student knows. There is often one step that has been misunderstood, so by identifying where the problem began, we can work together to build a deep understanding of each topic.

Roisin has worked with both of my children (age 8/10) separately. She clearly explained the topic in a different way that helped them understand. She used lots of different resources to help keep them engaged and get excited about Mathematics!
Roisin was absolutely wonderful with my daughter who is very anxious about maths. She had fallen slightly behind in class tests etc. and her confidence was low. Roisin turned her around amazingly both academically and with self confidence. She got an A in her final assessment and we are delighted.
