About Bergen

Master’s-level tutor with over 8 years of experience offering support in math (middle school through college), ACT prep, and essay writing. Specializes in working with students who have learning differences, busy schedules, or are in crunch time before major exams or deadlines. Tutoring sessions are always customized based on student needs. For ACT prep, sessions often include a mix of timed practice, review of common mistakes, and homework to reinforce strategies. For math, the approach focuses on allowing students to work through problems with guided support, encouraging confidence and problem-solving skills. Essay support includes brainstorming, writing techniques, and thorough feedback. Sessions are encouraging, focused, and structured to build both skill and confidence. About the lesson

With over 8 years of tutoring experience, I take a personalized and student-centered approach to every lesson. My teaching style adapts to the student — whether they’re managing a busy schedule, preparing last-minute for a big test, or need extra support due to a learning difference. My sessions are typically one-on-one and designed around the student’s goals. For ACT prep, I often run 2-hour sessions that include strategy-building, timed practice, and targeted homework to reinforce concepts between sessions. In math, I focus on guiding students through practice problems, encouraging them to struggle productively — which research shows is essential for deeper learning — while offering support when they hit a wall. My goal is to build confidence and true understanding, not just correct answers. For essay writing, I begin with brainstorming sessions and provide structure tips and writing techniques. Students either bring in drafts or I help them create one. I provide detailed feedback and proofreading to help elevate their writing to the next level. I’ve worked with students from middle school to college across a variety of subjects, and I’m passionate about helping each person feel confident, capable, and supported.
