About Angus

Before transitioning into tech and education, I actually spent time working out at sea as a sailor and offshore radio officer. Living and working across diverse waters gave me two things that shape how I teach today: calm patience in unpredictable situations, and a genuine fascination with how people from different backgrounds communicate.
Learning a language is a lot like setting sail into unfamiliar waters — it can feel daunting at first with tones and characters, but having the right guide makes it an adventure rather than a chore.

Having learned other languages myself(日本語 ,Bahasa Melayu and English), I know the exact hesitation that comes with speaking in front of others. That’s why my class is completely relaxed, judgment-free, and interactive. We can chat about anything from daily life and modern pop culture ,literature to maritime stories, travel, or practical business expressions.

About the lesson

Forget boring textbooks and endless grammar drills — let’s make Mandarin fun and natural!

Many people find Mandarin intimidating because of tones and characters, but learning a language should feel like chatting with a friend over coffee, not preparing for an exam .

Learning a language should never be boring — and with me, it won't be!

In my lessons, the focus is on real-life, conversational Mandarin that you can use immediately:

Zero-Pressure Speaking Practice: Learn daily dialogues, ordering food, ordering bubble tea, slang, and cultural insights you won’t find in textbooks.

Interactive & Topic-Driven: We explore themes based on your interests — modern Chinese pop culture, travel stories, trending topics, movies, or casual everyday scenarios.

Natural Pronunciation & Tones: I break down tones with intuitive sound analogies and visual memory cues so you speak with confidence.

100% Customized: Whether you are a total beginner starting from Pinyin or looking to speak more like a local, I tailor every lesson to your pace.
