About Richard
I have a masters degree in maths from Surrey University. Previously I ran a tutoring group during my A-Level days to help my fellow classmates, whilst also being a personal tutor for GCSE students and a maths prefect (yes that was a specific type of prefect in my school!).
It's been a few years since my school and university days, since then I have worked in a finance department before being promoted to work with the CEO on Merger and Acquisition projects. Currently I run my own business and have some spare time on the weekends so I'm looking to get back into tutoring and give some help where I can. I'm also currently picking up some of my own mathematics studies to prepare for PhD applications in the coming years.
I'd prefer to do online tutoring where possible at the moment for obvious reasons, but could visit homes if appropriate precautions are taken.
There are no bad students, I believe everyone learns in different ways and as a tutor I try to approach each student with that mentality in mind. Some need repetition, repetition and repetition to get things to stick in their minds, others need a way to visualise the problem in their mind, some just need to be reminded to take 2 deep breaths and v e r y s l o w l y read each sentence to ensure they don't miss key bits of information. What ever they need, I try my best to focus lessons around their style of learning.
