About Jack
Hi! I've been professionally tutoring physics and maths since 2012 and I hold a first class honours degree in Physics with Theoretical Physics from Imperial College London. I also hold a master's with distinction in Theoretical Physics, also from Imperial. My most recent (2021) A-level students all achieved their desired grades and obtained places at the universities of their choice. I'm happy to provide references, testimonials from past students and my DBS Certificate on request before any tutorials are arranged. I also offer a free 30 minute first tutorial. I've been lucky enough to work alongside several world-leading theoretical physicists and I have a high level of knowledge about maths and physics, meaning that I can illustrate apparently dry, abstract topics with many "real world" examples and applications. I also recently spent two months based at CERN in Geneva, home of the Large Hadron Collider (the biggest physics experiment in the world) where I worked alongside scientists on a programme designed to encourage a sense of wonder in the general public about the amazing work carried out there. I also hold a degree in Philosophy and English Literature from the University of Liverpool, and when I`m not tutoring I work designing electronics for use by artists and musicians - this arts background allows me to empathise with students for whom science doesn't come naturally, and gives me an insight into how to make technical subjects accessible... and hopefully even fun!

For GCSE and A-level, the focus is on both understanding (and enjoying) the subject, and achieving success in exams - no two students learn in exactly the same way, and every lesson is tailored towards the needs of the individual student. I focus first on making sure the student understands the key ideas and motivation for the topic, then reinforce this knowledge using plenty of practice with exam questions.

Jack is an exceptional Physics tutor. I have found him to be very knowledgeable in regards to syllabus content/exam boards. Jack is helpful and encourages pupils to attain the best results and most of all he explains the topics well making it easier for the student to understand.
