About Abigail

My teaching approach centers on rhythm-based techniques to help students develop strong timing, dynamic energy, and a natural sense of groove. I focus on essential topics like syncopation, beat subdivision, and rhythmic phrasing to deepen musical understanding. These skills are explored across genres such as gospel, funk, and jazz, where rhythm plays a crucial role in expression and feel. I support students who connect with music through movement, helping them internalize beats by tapping, clapping, or simple body motions. This physical engagement makes rhythm more accessible and fun. For those who express themselves best through emotional release or creative instinct, I encourage improvisation within rhythmic frameworks, fostering confidence and spontaneity. Lessons often include call-and-response exercises and groove-based vocal patterns to build rhythmic accuracy and freedom. I tailor the pace and complexity to each learner’s comfort, making sure they feel challenged but never overwhelmed. Whether a student is just starting out or transitioning from another style, my goal is to nurture their unique musical voice while grounding them in solid rhythm skills. By blending technical training with creative exploration, I help students find joy in the pulse of music. This approach not only improves timing but also boosts overall musicality and stage presence. Ultimately, students learn to move with the music naturally, unlocking greater expression and confidence in every performance.

About the lesson

I’m a vocal coach and performer with over 4 years of experience and a Bachelor of Contemporary Music (Voice Major). I specialize in creating a nurturing, affirming space where every student feels safe, heard, and celebrated. My teaching is especially tailored for neurodivergent learners and students with anxiety, offering support that meets each individual where they are.

I use sensory-friendly vocal exercises, visual cues, and gentle, consistent routines to help students feel grounded and confident. Whether we're humming lullabies, exploring calming pop melodies, or engaging in instrumental vocalizing, each session is designed to soothe while building skill.

I believe that singing is not just about sound—it's about connection, emotion, and self-expression. My approach blends technical training with mindfulness, helping students grow at their own pace.

In our lessons, progress is measured not by perfection, but by comfort, joy, and the courage to explore. I celebrate small victories and honor the unique voice in every learner.
