About Kaia

My piano teaching approach blends structure with creativity. I focus on building strong fundamentals in technique, theory, and reading skills while making space for personal expression. Lessons often include work on chord voicing, rhythmic grooves, and playing by ear to help students become confident and well-rounded musicians. For those interested in jazz improvisation or modern styles like pop, gospel, or funk, I guide them through groove-based playing, syncopation, and exploring unique textures. I enjoy helping students learn how to accompany singers, improvise over progressions, and create rich harmonic sounds. I adapt my teaching style based on each student’s pace and interests. Whether you're preparing for a graded exam or playing for personal joy, I’ll help you stay motivated and reach your goals. My lessons are flexible, supportive, and built around real musical examples. I also use simple rhythm games, ear training, and call-and-response exercises to keep things fun and interactive.

About the lesson

I’m a piano tutor with over 7 years of experience and a background in Bachelor of Music Education, Voice Focus. My lessons are all about feeling the rhythm, locking into the groove, and making music that moves you. I believe learning piano should be vibrant, fun, and full of pulse—so we explore syncopation, drive, and flow from day one.

Whether you’re into pop, funk, gospel, or a little mix of everything, I tailor each session to match your vibe and goals. I love helping students develop the skills to accompany singers, bring out the soul in a melody, and lay down grooves that stick. Jazz voicings? We’ll dive into them. Rhythmic variation? You’ll learn how to turn a simple chord progression into a rhythmic masterpiece.

From clapping games to groove-based improvisation, I use rhythm as the heartbeat of my teaching. You'll gain technique, musicality, and the confidence to play expressively. We explore playing by ear, layering textures, and finding your own sound.
