About Emilia

What sets me apart as a tutor is my ability to create a relaxed, non-judgmental space where students feel safe to make mistakes and learn from them. I am passionate about integrating culture into lessons, helping students see language learning as more than just vocabulary and grammar—it’s about connecting with a new world and community. I also take the time to understand my students' learning styles and adjust the pace and activities accordingly.

About the lesson

As a tutor, my approach is centered around creating a comfortable and engaging environment where students feel confident and excited to learn. I believe in tailoring each lesson to the unique needs, interests, and goals of my students, ensuring that learning feels relevant and enjoyable.

Teaching Method and Techniques: I use a communicative teaching method, which emphasizes speaking and interaction from the very beginning. This allows students to practice real-world language skills while building their vocabulary, grammar, and pronunciation. I also incorporate authentic materials like videos, articles, and conversation topics that reflect the culture of Spanish-speaking countries. This method fosters not only language proficiency but also cultural understanding. I use visual aids, games, and interactive activities to keep students engaged and to help reinforce learning.

A Typical Lesson Plan: Each lesson is personalized to match the student's level and learning goals. Here’s a basic structure for a lesson:

Warm-up (5-10 minutes): A brief conversation or activity to get the student comfortable and engaged.
Main Lesson (25-30 minutes): We’ll focus on a specific grammar point, vocabulary set, or skill (speaking, listening, reading, or writing). I’ll guide the student through practice exercises, discussions, and role-playing.
Cultural Focus (10-15 minutes): We’ll dive into cultural aspects of the language, such as traditions, idioms, or news from Spanish-speaking countries.
Wrap-up (5-10 minutes): I’ll provide a quick review and homework assignment, if applicable, to reinforce what we’ve learned.
