About Ha-eun

I have been surrounded by music my whole life and have played violin for 24 years. I went to high school at the Interlochen Arts Academy, obtained a BM in violin performance at Oberlin Conservatory and an MM at the Boston Conservatory. I have won competitions, played in professional orchestras, and soloed with orchestras. I had the great fortune of studying with wonderful teachers and strive to be like them and pass on their wisdom. I am passionate about teaching out of a desire to help people grow and express themselves.

About the lesson

I teach folks of all ages and skill levels: from kindergarten age to those in retirement; from having never done any music to those preparing for conservatory.

I emphasize building core understanding and technique (e.g. rhythm is universal, have only necessary tension, a good bowhold will unlock beautiful tone). Beyond fundamentals, I always aim to collaborate with my students to form reachable goals. I tailor my approach to those goals and a student's personality to make sure that the level of rigor is appropriate.
