About Philip

My teaching approach to French is all about making learning joyful and memorable. I use games, songs, storytelling, and humour to help students remember new words and phrases easily. I especially enjoy working with conversational learners and newcomers adjusting to French-speaking environments. About the lesson

I’m a French tutor with over 9 years of experience and a BA in French for Tourism and Hospitality. I specialise in helping high school and university students who find French film analysis and dialogue writing challenging. My approach is creative and tailored — I break down complex cinematic language into simple, digestible steps that anyone can follow. I love sharing my passion for French New Wave, contemporary cinema, and critical theory to make lessons engaging and relevant. Together, we explore films not just as stories but as rich texts full of meaning and style. I guide students to write with clarity and expression, transforming their ideas into well-crafted dialogue and thoughtful analysis. My goal is to build confidence in tackling film assignments while deepening students’ appreciation for French cinema. I believe every student can unlock their potential with the right support and encouragement. Lessons with me are interactive, insightful, and designed to boost both skills and enthusiasm.
